We welcomed Cath to our Board in November 2018.
She has a strong background in mental health nursing; beginning her career on hospital wards before moving into a community-based role. She later provided mental health support to homeless people across the city of Manchester.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Cath also has significant senior management and board-level experience. She worked as a locality director in south Manchester, before managing hospital services across Manchester. She has held board-level roles in primary care commissioning and provider organisations and was the nurse board member and mental health lead for North Manchester Primary Care Trust from 2000 to 2004.
In recent years Cath has taken time out from work to care for her parents and remained a full time carer for her father, who had dementia, until he passed away in 2019. This experience equipped Cath with a deeper level of understanding about the issues faced by service users and carers.
Cath’s number one aim is to improve services for local people. To achieve this, she will use her professional expertise and personal experiences to help shape our plans for the future. Key to this is an absolute commitment to making sure that patients, families and carers are at the heart of all decisions that we make.
