Home Intensive Treatment Service

The Older people’s service Home Intervention Team (HITS)  is a community based specialist Mental Health Team providing a safe and effective alternative to inpatient treatment and supporting  early discharges from the ward.

The operational hours   of the service are Monday – Friday 8am -6pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am-3pm.

The team provides a comprehensive Mental Health Service that offers a range of assessments and interventions which are delivered in a coordinated and client sensitive way. The service aims to treat people in the least restrictive environment with the minimum disruption to their lives. The service operates in a culturally sensitive way that is appropriate for each individual client. H.I.T.S support people in their own homes In Rochdale and Heywood.

The team provides an alternative to hospital admission by providing a service to older people in Rochdale  and Heywood  by:

-being the gate keeper for hospital admissions during operational hours.to support early/ timely discharge from the ward.

 -providing a rapid response to a mental health crisis and providing short term       support and treatment in the most appropriate and least restrictive environment, thus providing a seven day flexible response to acute Mental Health need.

-expediting discharges from older people’s MH ward through supportive and graded approaches to ensure safe return to the home environment.
