Dr Saleem Tareem.jpegHuge congratulations to Dr Saleem Tareen, consultant psychiatrist in Oldham, who’s been awarded an MBE for services to mental ill health and community development in Northern Ireland.

Dr Tareen spent many years working for Northern Health and Social Care Trust, where he was lead psychiatrist for the for the adult autistic spectrum diagnostic service.

He was also involved in the Counselling All Nations (CANS) charity, which provides counselling to people across Northern Ireland whose first language isn’t English, including refugees and asylum seekers.

An expert in using eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma, he successfully ran an international project to develop the skills of colleagues in developing countries, enabling them to better support people.

He’s also a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and an honorary lecturer at Queens University, in Belfast.

These amazing achievements have helped improve the lives of so many people. We’re so proud he chose to join Pennine Care in summer 2023, where he continues to make a positive difference as consultant psychiatrist with our Oldham adult outpatient psychiatry service.
