Two regional champions at new NHS Excellence Awards

Our colleagues have been named North West champions in two categories at the first NHS Excellence Awards.

The ‘let’s talk boobs’ breast health project won the improving health outcomes award, while ‘care closer, care smarter’ won the delivering value award.

‘Let’s talk boobs’ helps women with learning disabilities understand their bodies and feel more confident about breast screening.

It’s led by Jenny Jones, senior clinical lead for learning disabilities and health inequalities, working in partnership with other healthcare colleagues and organisations.

And ‘Care closer, care smarter’ is a joint award with NHS Greater Manchester and Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS to reduce out of area mental health placements, which is better for patients and families.

These regional champions are finalists for the national awards, with winners being announced at an NHS ConfedExpo ceremony on 10 June.
