Nature is the theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs from 10 – 16 May 2021.

Evidence shows that connecting with nature can improve your mental health – whether that’s exercising outdoors, visiting green spaces, remarking on nature, or growing plants and flowers.

Click on the menus below to find out some of the ways you can get involved during the week, and some of the mental health support we offer across our patch.

Next time you’re outdoors in nature, take some time to reflect on the present moment and notice:

  • Five things you see
  • Four things you hear
  • Three physical sensations you feel
  • Two things you smell
  • One thing you taste

We've got lots planned on our social media accounts throughout the week, but we also want to hear about how you connect with nature.

You can share your pictures with us @PennineCareNHS to show your favourite places in nature and how they benefit your mental health.

Don’t forget to use #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and #ConnectWithNature in your post.

We've put some of the pictures in our #ConnectWithNature Facebook photo album.

We provide a range of talking therapies for people struggling to cope with low mood, stress, anxiety or depression.

In some of our areas we may also be able to support you if you have a long-term physical health condition.
