Community mental health teams are now known as specialist mental health teams. We are part of the Tameside and Glossop neighbourhood mental health service.
There are three teams in Tameside and Glossop:
- North specialist mental health team – covers Ashton and Stalybridge
- South specialist mental health team – covers Hyde and Glossop
- West specialist mental health team – covers Audenshaw, Denton, Droylsden, and Dukinfield
Our teams support people with moderate to severe mental health problems that have a significant effect on their day-to-day life. This can include conditions like depression and bipolar disorder.
We accept new referrals from services for people between the ages of 16 and 64.

Occupational therapy
We have occupational therapists working in our Tameside community mental health teams, with a dedicated therapist for each team (north, south and west).
Occupational therapy can support you when your mental health problems have a significant effect on how you manage what you want and need to do in your day-to-day life.
We’ll work with you to identify what's important to you and your recovery. We can support you to identify and work towards personal goals, overcome challenges and support you to live a meaningful life.
We can also help you to develop and strengthen the skills you need to function effectively in your environments. This can include adapting your home environment or providing equipment to manage physical difficulties that impact on your daily life.
Your occupational therapy visits may take place in your home, local community or at Pennine Care headquarters in Ashton-under-Lyne.
We accept referrals from our community mental health team colleagues or consultant psychiatrists.
If you feel you would benefit from occupational therapy, please speak to your key worker (previously known as your care co-ordinator).
