Moorside Ward is a purpose built 36-bed mental health unit for people in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale.
Moorside is based in the John Elliot Unit at Birch Hill Hospital. This is a two storey building housing two single-gender wards, a fully equipped gym, multi faith room, snoezelen and therapeutic activity room.
The ground floor also houses a separate suite to accommodate clients brought in to the unit under section 136 of the Mental Health Act.

Moorside is smokefree
Moorside ward is now completely smokefree, meaning smoking isn't allowed anywhere in or out of the hospital.
