The service is for people with mild to moderate common mental health problems (e.g. depression and anxiety), with a strong focus on self-help. To help ensure referrals to our services are appropriate, please carefully consider whether it'll meet the patient's needs.

If a professional referral is appropriate please complete this referral form and return it to: pcn-tr.referrals.burytalkingtherapies@nhs.net.

We operate a choose and book system, where you can pick an appointment time and day that works for you. You will be sent a link once your referral is accepted.

If you cannot attend an appointment, please contact us as soon as possible on 0161 716 2222 and we will let your clinician know.

When you begin treatment your clinician will discuss our attendance policy with you, along with a treatment contract. This contract will state how many sessions you will be offered, dependent on the nature of your difficulties. This will be reviewed regularly. Your responsibilities in treatment will also be discussed.

Our attendance policy

Due to high levels of demand, we operate a policy for non-attendance of appointments. This includes cancelling a planned appointment or not attending appointments without contacting us.

Missing appointments can affect the momentum of your therapy and the success of your treatment. Most people find that treatment is successful if you attend your appointments regularly.

Missed appointments also impact on waiting times, as we could offer the appointment to someone else.

First assessment appointment

If you do not attend your first assessment appointment, you will be discharged. If you cancel the appointment and do not rebook within seven days, we will assume you no longer wish to access the service at this time and will discharge you.

Following two cancelled first assessment appointments you will need to submit a new referral form if you wish to proceed.

First treatment appointment

If you are unable to attend, please contact us to cancel. If you do not contact us we will discharge you from the service.

Please call 0161 716 2222 or email pcn-tr.burytalkingtherapies@nhs.net.

You will also be discharged if you do not attend on two occasions.

Subsequent appointments

Please contact the admin team within 48 hours if you miss a treatment appointment. You'll be discharged if we don't hear from you.

You will also be discharged if you miss two consecutive appointments, or miss three appointments across your episode of care.

If you keep cancelling with advance-notice, this may impact on the number of therapy sessions we can offer. Your therapist will discuss this with you and decide the best way forward.
