People in Bury now have easier access to specialist mental health and learning disability support thanks to a new community hub at 3 Knowsley Place.

A group of healthcare colleagues outside 3 Knowsley PlaceThe modern, purpose-designed space brings together a wide range of services under one roof, making it simpler for patients and families to get help in one convenient location.

The mental health and learning disability community hub has been created following a joint investment of more than £2 million by Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and Bury Council.

It represents a shift towards providing care closer to home, focusing on helping people stay well and preventing problems from getting worse. By bringing together health and social care services in one place, the hub makes it easier for different services to work together and for patients to move smoothly between the support they need - whether that's early help to stay healthy, ongoing treatment, or crisis support.

Supporting more than 8,000 patient appointments each year, the hub features 10 clinic rooms, two consulting rooms, and two group therapy spaces, alongside dedicated areas for education and training for staff.

Around 240 staff - including nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and speech and language therapists - are now based in the building.

By bringing together services previously spread across multiple sites, the hub improves coordination, efficiency, and sustainability.

Services now operating from 3 Knowsley Place include:

  • Bury NHS Talking Therapies, early intervention, neighbourhood mental health team, specialist mental health team, and secondary care psychological therapies.
  • Bury’s children and adult community learning disability teams.
  • Bury Council’s adult social care mental health and learning disabilities teams.

Karen Maneely, network director of operations, at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, said:

"This new community hub is a significant step forward in our ambition to provide high-quality, well-located buildings that support excellent patient care and create a great place to work.

“By bringing services together under one roof, we can offer more coordinated care and make it easier for people to access the help they need."
