Natasha Whitehead apprenticeship week.jpg“As a busy working mum juggling a mortgage, bills, and everything else life throws at you, traditional university study was never on my radar. This apprenticeship has changed my life, and I am incredibly grateful for that.”

This National Apprenticeship Week, we are celebrating the extraordinary contributions of our 117 apprentices, and the value they bring to our services.

Natasha Whitehead (pictured) recently completed her occupational therapy apprenticeship and is now working in her dream healthcare role. She has shared her journey to inspire others.

“I began my NHS career in 2004 with Rochdale community learning disability team. I fell in love with the role straight away and quickly realised that helping people live meaningful, fulfilling lives was exactly where I belonged.”

“A couple of years later, I stepped into a role that truly felt like home - working as an occupational therapy assistant. I spent six years there, and then the occupational therapy apprenticeship came along… and the rest is history.”

Natasha enrolled on the apprenticeship programme, which enables people to develop practical experience and earn a salary while completing their degree.

“Pennine Care opened a door and provided me with an opportunity I never thought I could get.”

“From the very beginning, I felt genuinely supported. I’ve grown more confident and outgoing, and have learnt that I can adapt, connect, and thrive in new environments.”

“Now that I am qualified, I want to continue to use my experience, knowledge and skills to make an impact for the people we support.”
