Trafford Adult Speech and language Therapy Service
Our service is for people over 18 who live in or are registered with a GP in Trafford.
Patients may present with concerns around swallowing function (Dysphagia) and /or communication difficulties.
These difficulties may arise as a result of varied diagnoses including Stroke, Dementia, Progressive Neurological Conditions, Respiratory Disease and Head and Neck Cancers.
Patients can self-refer for communication problems but a medical referral is required for dysphagia, either from GP, consultant or SLT colleague transfer.
The service provides assessment, diagnosis and management of these disorders in the community setting. This includes clinic appointments, visits to own home, and nursing or residential care homes.
Education, training and support are an important aspect of our intervention alongside direct therapy.
