Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Children's Epilepsy Specialist
Service for families within the HMR boroughs who have a child/young person diagnosed with epilepsy.
The service is applicable for children from birth to 19 years and offers care, support, guidance provided to families within the community, health professionals, educational professionals and council staff all of whom come in contact with the diagnosed child.
Referrals can be made from educational, health, social care professionals as long as there is a diagnosis of epilepsy present.
The aim of the service is to keep children/ young people out of hospital as much as possible whilst empowering families and individuals with the necessary tools, knowledge and education to live a full and challenge free life within the community.
The children’s epilepsy specialist is part of the Children’s Acute and Ongoing Needs Service (CAONS), which launched in September 2016. Click here to find out more about the CAONS.

The address provided below is a central hub for all specialisms, however the children’s epilepsy specialist provides services in people’s homes and at a range of community-based venues.
