Our four new rapid response teams will cover the whole of Greater Manchester as follows:

  • North team: Bury, Rochdale and Oldham
  • South team: Tameside and Glossop; Stockport and Trafford
  • West team: Wigan and Bolton
  • Central team: Manchester and Salford

Our teams provide risk assessment and management for young people who are experiencing a mental health crisis. They will continue to support young people, along with their families, for up to 72 hours, working with them to create a crisis plan.

At the time being, we will only be able to accept referrals from mental health professionals.

Our long-term goal is that people will be able to self-refer. However, to make these new services are safe and meet the needs of young people, it's important that we don't rush things and continually check that we're getting things right.

We are finalising exactly how these teams will work, including what the referral criteria will be, what types of support will be offered and other important considerations to make sure the teams run smoothly.

A big focus over the last few months has been to recruit talented and passionate staff – we have been delighted to receive hundreds of applications!

With the help of a group of children and young people, we have successfully appointed to many of the available roles.

We will be advertising more roles in the coming weeks and months. Click here for details.
