Tameside mental health support team (MHST) - thrive in education

We support young people who are experiencing anxiety, low mood, worry, or other difficulties affecting their wellbeing. We can help from age 4 to 18 years.

Pennine Care run the service in partnership with local charities Active Tameside, Youth in Mind (part of Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind), and Tameside Education Psychological Service. We work with schools and colleges across Tameside.

Our aim is to help you reach your full potential by offering the right support, in the right place, at the right time.

We’re here all year round, including school holidays.

We can help with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, such as anxiety and low mood. This means problems that are starting to affect everyday life but can often improve with early help.

There are three main ways we help:

  • One-to-one or group support for young people, parents or carers
  • Advice, guidance, and signposting to other services
  • Working with schools and colleges to support pupils and staff wellbeing

You can be referred by your school mental health lead or link worker. We will look at your needs to make sure the right support is offered.

We also support parents and carers, to help you understand and respond to your child’s difficulties.

You can read these guides for more information about who we are and how we can help:

Our team is currently based in 39 schools across Tameside. We work closely with school staff and parents, to make sure you benefit from joined-up support.

Please speak to a teacher, the school’s mental health lead or school link worker about how our service can help you. They can make a referral for support.
