Flu is highly infectious and can easily spread. For most people, it is an uncomfortable illness that can come on quite suddenly and severely. However, for vulnerable people, such as children, the elderly and those with long-term health conditions or a weakened immune system, flu can lead to severe infections, complications and even death.

Evidence shows that up to a quarter of healthcare professionals may become infected with flu, even during a mild season.

Having the flu vaccine can help to stop the spread of flu, which is why we offer a free vaccine to every single member of staff – regardless of level or role.

This year, we have refreshed our awareness raising campaign and launched a new FLUperhero theme.

The campaign launched on 18 September 2017 and will run until early 2018.

Our dedicated flu champs have been working hard to offer lots of sessions in every borough, to make it as quick and easy as possible for staff to have their vaccine.

Leading by example are some of our Board members – including Chief Executive Claire Molloy, Medical Director Dr Henry Ticehurst and Interim Executive Director of Nursing and Healthcare Professionals Jackie Stewart.

Many staff, including our Board members, have shared their FLUperhero selfies on social media to encourage colleagues to have their vaccine.
