Congratulations to our unsung heroes
We’re pleased to announce that two of our staff have been shortlisted in the annual Unsung Hero awards.
Manchester Resilience Hub lead, Helen Lambert and Oldham’s head of adult services (urgent care), Vicki Elcock, have been shortlisted in the leader of the year (admin and clerical) category and leader of the year (corporate functions) category respectively.
In her role with the Resilience Hub, Helen has been responsible for leading both clinical and admin staff to support the victims of the two Manchester terror attacks (the arena attack in May 2017 and the Victoria Station stabbings in December 2018).
Helen has formed strong relationships with key partners and is vital to ensuring the Hub is well managed, especially during busy periods. She is always looking for ways to improve and learn and has worked with partners to evolve the Hub and offer guidance for other trauma support programmes.
Vicki has been working hard to bring together health and social care services, improve quality and overcome the increasing pressures faced by Oldham's urgent care services.
Managing director of health and adult social care community services, Mark Warren, was behind Vicki's nomination. He highlighted Vicki's caring nature and patient-focused approach as key to her on-going success.
Mark said: "Vicki has demonstrated an awe-inspiring ability to negotiate and bridge cultural divides and develop a harmonious team that can work together for the benefit of patients."
“Vicki is one of the most supportive colleagues I have ever had the pleasure to work with (and) she is also admired by colleagues from various partner organisations; everyone I speak to holds her in such high esteem. She is an absolute asset and will go far!”
The Unsung Hero Awards are the only national awards for non-medical NHS staff and volunteers who go above and beyond the call of duty.
The overall winners will be announced at a special ceremony on 1 March 2019.
Well done to Helen and Vicki and good luck in March!
