Update about the future of Bury walk in centres

Here is an update from NHS Bury Clinical Commissioning Group regarding the future of the walk in centres in Bury:

"As you will be aware, the public consultation in relation to the future configuration of urgent care services in Bury is currently paused pending the release of further national guidance.

"At the same time, it has been confirmed that the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership is also considering the composition of urgent care services across Greater Manchester. Current indications are that it is likely to be September 2017 at the earliest before the further guidance we require is published.

"As such, it is considered prudent for our consultation to remain paused until the further guidance is received. Once this is received the guidance will be assessed against the current Bury urgent care redesign proposals, and next steps will then be determined.

"One of the elements within the Bury urgent care redesign proposals relates to the future of the two walk-in centre services in Bury. The CCG is able to confirm that the centres at Prestwich and within Moorgate Primary Care Centre in Bury, will remain operational until at least 31st March 2018.

"The CCG has been working with Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and BARDOC to develop proposals to stabilise service delivery at both centres until this date.

"To enable both centres to remain open every day during the hours detailed below, effective immediately, Prestwich WiC is managed by BARDOC and Bury WiC is managed by Pennine Care.

"Opening hours:

  • Bury WIC: First floor Moorgate Primary Care Centre, 22 Derby Way, Bury, BL9 0NJ : 7am to 3pm (*), seven days a week
  • Prestwich WIC Fairfax Road, Prestwich M25 1BT Prestwich WIC: 12pm to 8pm (*), seven days a week

(*) The last appointment is 30 minutes prior to closing to enable staff to appropriately and effectively assess people.

"The CCG remains committed to the redesign of urgent care services in Bury in order to ensure the best possible care for the GP registered population of Bury. We will communicate further updates on the next steps in this process following the release of further national and Greater Manchester guidance."
