New safeguarding lead nurse
The Trust has appointed a new nurse to provide leadership for safeguarding children and adults.
Berni Dean is Pennine Care’s new Safeguarding Lead Nurse, covering all six boroughs across the Trust’s footprint.
She will work closely with named nurses and other staff to protect people’s health, wellbeing and human rights, and enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect.
Throughout her career Berni has worked as a nurse with adults and children, in both a hospital and community setting and she brings a wealth of experience in safeguarding.
Berni has worked for Pennine Care since 2013, developing the role of the Specialist Nurse for Child Sexual Exploitation within the Sunrise Team, based at Rochdale police station.
Over the coming months, she will be continue to build on embedding safeguarding within clinical practice.
Her initial priorities will be to support the training agenda, raise awareness of safeguarding among frontline practitioners, review the safeguarding website to meet the needs of staff and to streamline safeguarding policies.
Berni’s role will be instrumental in ensuring safeguarding advice and support is consistent and of the highest quality right across the Trust.
