New Named Nurse for Safeguarding in the Rochdale borough
Aliette Atkinson has been appointed as Named Nurse for Safeguarding for community and mental health services in the Rochdale borough
Aliette brings with her a wealth of nursing experience in both adults’ and children’s services. She developed a passion for safeguarding after qualifying as a health visitor. After gaining practitioner experience, Aliette decided to underpin her passion by undertaking safeguarding practice and study – which she has completed to Masters level.
She has extensive experience in the safeguarding arena, including delivering training and supervision. She also played a key role in establishing a multi-agency safeguarding hub in Knowsley.
Aliette's role involves providing leadership and assurance in relation to child and adult safeguarding for all of Pennine Care's community and mental health services in the Rochdale borough.
She works in close partnership with a range of other professionals both locally and across Greater Manchester, to ensure information is shared effectively and to help overcome any barriers of communication
Aliette said: “I’m delighted to be appointed to the role of Named Nurse, which feels a natural progression from my previous safeguarding roles. I relish the challenges and further professional development that this role will bring and look forward to meeting colleagues across the Trust and the borough.”
Michele Bennion, Service Director for HMR Community Services, said: I'd like to welcome Aliette and wish her every success in her new role.
"I’d like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate our outgoing Named Nurse Alison Kelly, who has been appointed as Designated Nurse for NHS HMR Clinical Commissioning Group.
"The role involves leading and overseeing safeguarding/child protection quality assurance and improvement across the whole health community in the Rochdale borough. She will provide expert advice to service planners and commissioners, ensuring all services meet statutory requirements around safeguarding and promote the welfare of children, young people and adults."
"I’d like to thank Alison for all her hard work and dedication while working within Pennine Care. Alison has ensured that the safeguarding agenda is at the forefront of our services and I know she will continue with this great work in her new role."
