Social Responsibility

At Pennine Care, we want to make a valuable contribution to our local communities, acting as a catalyst to improve lives. We want to lead way in this area and so have developed a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy.

Over the past year, staff from across the Trust have been involved in supporting numerous collections and charity drives. This has been down to the generosity of many of our staff who are committed to making a difference to our communities.

This is what social responsibility is about. By working in the NHS, we make a difference to people’s lives every day, either directly or indirectly, but as a large organisation providing public services and spending public money, we have an added responsibility to make a contribution to our local communities. We also need to ensure our business activities take place in the most sustainable and responsible way.

We are now approaching the final year of delivering our first social responsibility strategy 2013-2018 and we wanted to reflect on what we’ve delivered to date. Our strategy sets-out six key areas to focus on:

  • Travel
  • Procurement
  • Facilities management
  • Buildings
  • Workforce
  • Community engagement

What we've achieved so far

We’ve made significant progress in all the above areas and the attached summarises just some of the highlights.

We have set specific ambitions for the final year of the current strategy, 2017-2018, and these will be detailed shortly.

Our social responsibility work will continue following 2017-18 when we will develop a refreshed strategy and programme of work.
